Solari Milano
Solari Milano is an Italian brand of high-quality, completely vegan shoes , launched in 2022. We asked Niccolò Amati, the founder, to explain what inspired him to launch a vegan shoe brand.
Niccolò Amati: “I saw a need in the market for high-quality vegan dress shoes. I was working in London as a banker, and I couldn’t find animal-free shoes that suited my daily needs. I had a few connections and I took a chance. It was in 2020-2021, during covid. It took about a year and a half of prototyping, and then we were ready to launch. I wanted to combine craftsmanship, Italian know-how and sustainability.”

Solari Milano offers high-end, eco-friendly, stylish shoes made from vegan materials to avoid any cruelty to animals. The brand aims to promote an environmentally conscious lifestyle: they minimize wastewater and collaborate with suppliers based in Italy, in order to limit CO2 emissions related to transport. Solari Milano ensures that their values are aligned with those of their partners by subjecting their supply chain processes to strict and constant scrutiny, while striving to promote continuous improvement.
Eco-responsible materials
The Solari brand carefully selects materials that do not contain any animal matter , but are also eco-responsible . The choice and processing of materials to create their vegan shoe collections are based on in-depth knowledge of the market.
Each material is carefully evaluated for quality, color and texture to determine if it is suitable for the end use.
Niccolò Amati explains the materials he chose to make the shoes: “The upper is made from corn: a material that is 60% bio-based, derived from corn, and 40% recycled, based on polyurethane. It is a 100% Italian material. The same goes for the bamboo lining, which is made from 60% organic material derived from bamboo and 40% viscose. Our shoes are made from 40% recycled rubber.”
Once the materials are chosen, the model maker creates a prototype, which is tested at the CEQ (Centro Eccellenza Qualità) in Monsummano Terme, then handcrafted in Fermo, Italy.
