Kumi Sneakers
Kumi is a young brand of vegan sneakers , created in 2020 by Alexandra and Sergio, a Spanish couple, inspired by their love of travel and nature.
They wanted to launch into the creation of a project in line with their values, united by their shared passion for sustainable fashion and beautiful sneakers .Their respective personalities have allowed them to move mountains by creating a vibrant brand that reflects them well.
With enthusiasm and a relentless thirst for new challenges, they are guided by values that have become the pillars of their brand .
Respect and love for animals
No animal materials are used in the making of Kumi sneakers, the brand has obtained the "PETA-Approved vegan" certification. "We firmly believe in treating animals with dignity , which is why we strive to maintain this ethic throughout our brand."
A sustainable fashion industry
Deeply committed to protecting the environment , Alexandra and Sergio choose only sustainable and recycled materials , ensuring that each of their actions contributes to a more sustainable future in the field of fashion. The main material used on the sneakers is an alter-leather made from 42% GRS-certified recycled textiles and 58% polyurethane , the lining is made from recycled polyester and the sole is made from recycled rubber. As for the laces, they are made from recycled cotton and polyester.
Support for the local economy
Kumi vegan sneakers are made in Elche, Spain. Considered the capital of footwear , Elche has a long tradition of shoemaking that has made it the largest producer in Spain and a reference worldwide.
“We are actively reducing our CO2 impact by forging partnerships with national businesses, which helps strengthen ties within our community while having a positive impact on our planet.”
The factory is close enough for the two creators of the brand to visit it regularly. Each pair is handcrafted , with care. For a longer lifespan, the sole is sewn to the upper, making the shoe all the more robust .
